As Reclaiming the Blade hits the streets, we are getting a lot of feedback from those who have seen the film. Here are some exerpts from emails we’ve received.

Wow.  Very well done.  Aesthetically pleasing, lush in graphics and sound, good content.  We love the way the film starts with the areas more commonly familiar to the general public, movies, then fencing and end each segment with…but it isn’t real.  We have to address the myths before we can get to the reality of WMA.  Beautifully done, Bravo.

Excellent! At last a movie that addresses the preconceived ideas people have about what Western Martial Arts is and represents. RTB has really set the ball rolling, its shot off the starting blocks at a sprint in all the right directions. I hope that what you and your team have achieved will set the standard for those WMA movies, documentaries, WMA sports specific DVD’s etc, that follow. The production and presentation was excellent and it dealt perfectly, honourably and respectfully about the true difference between modern sports fencing, theatrical fencing, re-enactment and REAL WMA sword fighting/martial arts.

The movie arrived safely today – and I have just been watching. I LOVE it. Great stuff. And it works really well with the modern music to the present day fight scenes. Makes it more ‘ here and now’ – not dead – and the energy fits well with fighting.

     Last night I intended to simply watch a few minutes of Reclaiming the Blade, just to get a feel for it. I ended up watching the whole movie. I loved it! I really enjoyed the interviews, but I particularly was interested in the scenes where true Self Defense
Sword Fighting was showcased. To be honest, I could have watched another couple of hours of just that for my research. It really sparked my imagination.
      I have not watched the second DVD yet, but I know I will enjoy it. All in all, this was a wonderful documentary. I will certainly
recommend this film to any of my friends at all interested in Swords, or Sword Fighting. This was definitely worth the wait!

I just received the RTB DVDs and I wanted to take a second to thank you and everyone involved at Galatia Films. WOW! is the first thing that comes to mind when watching the film. This very well done film provides the viewer with an introduction to the sword, and is an excellent starting point for further research. The experts and enthusiasts who are interviewed infect the viewer with their spirit and their knowledge. This is a film long overdue.
